Bob Lyman is retiring as the transaction broker of the CENTURY 21 Signature Real Estate (C21SRE) office in Pella, Iowa. This comes after 36 years in the real estate business, the last four of which were spent as the broker of the C21SRE Pella office.
Bob got his real estate license in 1988 and started selling in Cedar Rapids then quickly moved to Pella and owned a brokerage there. In 2019, the brokerage was acquired by CENTURY 21 Signature Real Estate and Bob became the transaction broker of the new office.
He quickly gained a reputation as a mentor and advocate for his team. He’s also known for closing out every weekly team meeting with the advice to “Be careful out there!”
“Bob has taught me a lot and been a mentor in different situations,” said Kristen Tool, the Pella Agent Services and Transaction Coordinator. “We are all so grateful and I’ll miss working alongside you.”
“It has been a privilege to have worked alongside “Bob the Broker” in our Pella office,” said Dylan de Bruin, co-broker/co-owner of C21SRE. “Bob is one of a kind, a true lover of people, and an absolute stand-up guy. We will miss Bob sorely, but his contributions will forever be with our team. Congratulations on your retirement Bob!”
Bob was once previously asked for advice for new real estate agents wondering about the jump into real estate. He said, “Keep moving forward. A wrong decision is just a mistake, not the end of the world. Keep moving on. I never wanted to look back on my life and say I wonder what would have happened if I had chosen to do something else.”
We’d say he made the right choice. Enjoy a happy and well-deserved retirement, Bob! And as always, “Be careful out there!”
