Teske Vance knows the power of emotion. “Before I became a REALTOR®, I worked in hospice and end of life care,” she said. “I recognize the many emotions- some good, some bad- that can be involved with buying or selling a home. My biggest focus is to help ease the process for my clients so they feel supported every step of the way.”
We’re excited to announce that Teske is joining CENTURY 21 Signature Real Estate. She is a newly licensed agent who will be working from our Ankeny office and serving the Ankeny and Polk City communities.
About Teske Vance:
Tell us a little about yourself. Where are you from and what’s your family like?
I was born and raised in Burlington, Iowa. I have lived in central Iowa for the past 15 years and currently live in Polk City.
I am the proud mother of two great kids: Gabe and Aiyana. Gabe is a recent graduate of North Polk High School and now attends DMACC. Aiyana is in middle school and looking forward to her first season of cross country.
What are your hobbies?
I enjoy spending time with friends and family, attending my kids’ activities and sporting events, and spending time outdoors. I also love to cook, decorate, write, sing and listen to music. I’m always up for karaoke!
I wouldn’t go so far as to call myself a biker chick but I’ve recently enjoyed riding on the back of my boyfriend’s Harley and plan to do more of that. Another fun fact about me is that I’m a published author of two books and have a PhD from Iowa State University where I taught as an adjunct for several years.
What did you do before becoming a REALTOR®?
Prior to becoming a REALTOR®, I had a career in social work. I worked primarily in hospice and end of life care, but spent a good number of years leading grief support groups for people of all ages. I have a passion for connecting with and helping others so when I was considering a career change, real estate felt like a natural shift for me.
As a social worker, I had the privilege of being invited into many families’ life transitions over the years. I am looking forward to that aspect in my career as a REALTOR®.
What is your favorite neighborhood in Des Moines/Ankeny/Ames/Cedar Valley/Pella?
I’ve lived in Polk City for the past two years and love it here because it feels like I get the best of both worlds: a small town feel close to Big Creek State Park and Saylorville Lake, yet close enough to the metro for shopping, dining and other activities.
What areas will you be serving?
I will be serving Ankeny, Polk City and the surrounding communities.
What are your biggest strengths? What can your clients expect from you?
One of my biggest strengths is my desire and ability to genuinely connect with people. I want to know their stories and consider it a privilege when others welcome me in to serve a small part. My clients can expect to have an agent who is an excellent listener who truly cares about the major life transitions of buying or selling a home and the circumstances around it. Caring for people is my specialty which I feel is the impetus for being organized, responsive and ensuring as smooth of a transaction as possible.
Why are you passionate about being a REALTOR®?
I am passionate about being a REALTOR® because it’s a career that allows me to connect with people, learn their stories and help them through an important crossroad in their lives. I like having variety, autonomy and flexibility in my work and feel that real estate offers all of this and more. I’m always up for a challenge and value continuous learning and growth, which is essential for navigating the ever-changing market.
