We’re excited to welcome Susan Sawvell to the CENTURY 21 Signature Real Estate team! Susan has been licensed since May 2017 and previously spent almost 15 years providing in-home daycare before changing her career to personal training! She’s still training part time, but real estate is her full-time career because she “absolutely love[s] building relationships with people and learning about new people and that is why I’m so super excited to be in this field.” Susan will be headquartered in our Ankeny office; watch the video and read the Q&A below to learn more.

Welcome to the team, Susan!

Full Q&A –

What is your name, where are you from, and where do you currently live?

Susan Marie Sawvell, I grew up here in Ankeny, moved from here Newport News, Virginia; Savannah, Georgia; to West Des Moines, IA; and then back to her hometown of Ankeny in 2004.

Tell me about your family.

I have 4 children. My oldest son is 24, I have daughters that are 17 and 15, and my youngest son is 11. We have a Cavachon that’s 3 years old. My parents live here in Ankeny, along with one of my sisters. And, my other sister lives in Newton.

When you’re not busy in real estate, what do you enjoy doing?

I am quite busy transporting my children to activities and actually, that’s my favorite time, we have a lot of conversation and laughter in the car. When I’m not working or transporting kids, I love to spend my time in the gym.

What did you do before being a REALTOR®?

I spent 14 years providing in home day care and a few years ago, I became a personal trainer. Now, I’m still training part time.

Why did you choose C21®?

After my meeting with Dylan and Angela, I was completely sold! I knew that I would never be alone and have all the support I was looking for. Everybody here is so caring and knowledgeable and excited about the business and that made me super excited about the business! The culture at CENTURY 21 is amazing! I love it because everyone is willing to go above and beyond to help one another without expecting anything in return.

What are 3 words your clients would use to describe you?

Energetic, passionate, and positive.

What is your favorite neighborhood in Des Moines/Ankeny/Ames?

My neighborhood in the area would have to be Beaverdale if I had to pick one. The homes there are so beautiful!

Any advice for new agents?

Go somewhere that gives you a warm fuzzy feeling and has a great plan in place for new agents. If you go somewhere that just gives you that warm fuzzy feeling, you might go for the wrong reasons. Be sure that they have, in print, an amazing plan for you to learn from and feel comfortable with all the different programs they have to offer.

Why are you passionate about being a REALTOR®?

I get to be a part of this amazing journey, of either downsizing or growing a family, being a part of a wedding or a new baby addition. Or, helping someone find that forever home, somewhere they’re going to retire. I absolutely love building relationships with people and learning about new people and that is why I’m so super excited to be in this field.
