We would like to welcome Janell Jimmerson to our Urbandale family! “I am passionate about being a REALTOR for 2 main reasons:  I get to help people find their home.  Where they get to build memories with their families and realize the American dream of home ownership. The other reason is that I have previously owned and operated my own business.  I know that it takes hard work and dedication and there are no shortcuts.  But building a business is a challenge and rewarding all at the same time.” said Jimmerson.

Welcome to the team, Janell!

About Janell:

What is your name, where are you from, and where do you currently live?

My name is Janell Jimmerson, I claim Van Meter as my hometown.  I went to school here as a kid and came back so my youngest children could graduate from here as well.  As a child and a younger adult, we moved around a lot-all within the greater DM metro area (to include western Dallas county). My family…is huge!  We have a blended family so there are 8 kids-most grown.  At home we have a 16 and a 9 year old.  I also have 10 grandchildren-and the awesome part is that we all live in the same small town so all of the kids are able to grow up together.

Hobbies?

Hobbies-family activities consume a lot of the time!  Biking, hiking, walking, traveling to the ocean and walking the beach…I love to be outside enjoying the sunshine and all that mother nature has to offer.

What did you do before being a realtor?
Before becoming a REALTOR, I have done many things… Years ago, I owned and operated my own in home child care business.  From there I went into the collection industry where I was a bill collector, team lead, administrative assistant, supervisor and human resources specialist.  Our branch office closed and after firing everyone that I had worked with for proceeding 12 years-I decided I wanted something different. So I went to work in the banking industry where I  was closer to home and gained experience as a teller, personal banker and a loan processor.   At this point I took a hard look at real estate as a career.  I got my real estate license and took a position as a real estate closer.  Then I decided it was time to jump into real estate with both feet.
What is your favorite neighborhood in Des Moines/Ankeny/Ames/Cedar Valley/Pella?

My favorite neighborhood….I have lived on the east and south side of Des Moines, West Des Moines, Windsor Heights, De Soto and Van Meter.  I love the western Dallas county region.  I grew up mostly in Van Meter and have watched this whole area grow so much over the last few decades and I am excited to be living and selling homes here.

Why did you choose to be a Century 21 agent?
I chose C21 because I didn’t want to be just like everyone else (not being snooty or anything) I wanted to be recognized as a step up.  Not the most common but the best quality real estate agent.  I was attracted to the new agent training and the tagline- Relentless.  I identify with this.  I consider myself very relentless.  When I have a goal-it may take a while but I eventually achieve it.  I do not take no for an answer, I find my work around to yes.  Working with like minded people-that is inspirational and motivating.   I want to be the best that I can be, and I think C21 can help me become just that. I am passionate about learning, leading and growing.  C21 seems to be the same and I am so excited to become a part of the family.  I like how the culture is one of abundance instead of scarcity.
What are 3 words your (friends and family) would use to describe you?
Relentless and persistant-I find my way to yes.  Genuine-I really do care about people and love to make a personal connection.  I am a knowledge seeker-I love to learn!
Any advice for new agents?

Get your finances in order and believe in yourself.  You got this!

Why are you passionate about being a realtor?
I am passionate about being a REALTOR for 2 main reasons:  I get to help people find their home.  Where they get to build memories with their families and realize the American dream of home ownership. The other reason is that I have previously owned and operated my own business.  I know that it takes hard work and dedication and there are no shortcuts.  But building a business is a challenge and rewarding all at the same time.  It is not easy but the benefits are so worth it.  I want the flexibility to spend time with my family, to do the things that  I want to do-without feeling like I am chained to a desk and working for someone else.  I am building my future and my own financial empire and establishing life long relationships.  This feels really excited and I can’t wait to begin.
