Gunnar Methlie’s background in investments and asset management will serve him well in the world of real estate. “Some great strengths of mine are attention to detail and the pursuit of continuous improvement,” he said.
We’re excited to announce that Gunnar is joining CENTURY 21 Signature Real Estate. He is a newly licensed agent who will be working from our Ankeny office and we’re thrilled to have him.
About Gunnar Methlie:
Tell us a little about yourself. Where are you from and what’s your family like?
I was born and raised in the Des Moines area and currently live in downtown Des Moines.
I have a fairly large family and things can be a little crazy sometimes. I have six siblings! Even though things could get hectic while I was growing up, my parents and stepparents always found ways to make things work and make sure they could provide for us in every way we needed. My family has strong beliefs in loyalty and supporting one another and I am very grateful for that foundation.
What are your hobbies?
I really enjoy being physically active and pushing my limits. I have learned over time that the “mind-body connection” is important for me to perform at my best. Working out clears my mind, reduces stress, gives me time to disconnect and helps me be more focused. It is probably the endorphins, but reaching some point of physical exhaustion feels good!
Besides fitness, I also have a dog named Bear that I spend a lot of time with at dog parks and on walks.
What did you do before becoming a REALTOR®?
Before getting my license, I worked in a corporate office setting, specifically in investment operations in the asset management world. I was in that job for just over three years after I got my degree from Central College in Pella. I decided to move my career into real estate for several reasons but the most important one for me is the direct relationship between hard work and rewards that exists in real estate.
In my experience coming from corporate life, I’ve found that hard work is unrecognized and at the end of the day you are not receiving true rewards for your hard work because you are working for someone else. The opportunity to control my destiny and directly reap the rewards of my hard work is something I could not pass up. Beyond that, I chose to work in real estate to help people through the major milestones of their lives and to take a more active role in developing communities around Central Iowa.
What is your favorite neighborhood in Des Moines/Ankeny/Ames/Cedar Valley/Pella?
This is a tough question! I think all neighborhoods in the Des Moines metro are great. Each area has its own character, great schools, amenities, conveniences and entertainment options. That’s the great thing about Central Iowa, you can’t go wrong!
What areas will you be serving?
I plan to serve the Des Moines metro, surrounding areas and beyond!
What are your biggest strengths? What can your clients expect from you?
A client can expect that I will bring respect, tenacity, loyalty and relentlessness to our relationship as I create value for them and deliver a great real estate transaction.
Why are you passionate about being a REALTOR®?
I am passionate about being a REALTOR® because I believe in the power of real estate as an asset to help build people’s lives and strengthen communities. I also believe in the importance of a home to provide security, control, identity and privacy.
