C21 Impact is proud to support Menagerie Stables, a Mitchellville-based business that provides equestrian training and horse-based therapy programs for individuals with disabilities.

While anybody is welcome to take training lessons, Menagerie Stables is known for their therapy programs for children with disabilities. The children in the adaptive riding program learn how to ride, take care of the horses, and show them which allows them to build muscle memory, learn to walk, work through sensory issues and develop basic skills such as interacting with others, following instructions and more.

In March 2022, tornadoes ripped through the area and destroyed Menagerie Stable’s barn which housed all 14 of the horses. The roof was blown away and the structure was severely damaged. All of the animals were unharmed but the organization’s owner, Deanne Mundt, was faced with a big challenge.

Her horses are in temporary housing and she is operating limited programs temporarily in Bondurant and Hartford as she attempts to raise the funds to rebuild.

Mundt and her business partner, Erica Jones, set up a GoFundMe, which as of today is just $6,000 short of the goal of $30,000.

When the C21 Impact team learned of the need, they decided to donate $2,500 toward the rebuilding of the barn. Mundt and her team are doing important work with kids and young adults who otherwise might not have the opportunity to develop new skills and connect with the horses they’ve learned to love. The committee is proud to support such impactful work in Polk County.
