C21 Impact is proud to support the ESOL students at Willowbrook Elementary School by donating bikes, helmets and bike locks to students who would otherwise be without them.
Amy Olesen is an English-to-Speakers-of-Other-Languages (ESOL) teacher at Willowbrook Elementary School in Altoona. Her students speak, hear or understand other languages and she works with them to become better English speakers, readers and writers. She also helps coordinate the end-of-year bike ride that serves as a celebration for fifth grade students.
Olesen realized some of her students didn’t have bikes and lacked the means to get one. She approached the C21 Impact Committee
Olesen’s dedication to her students and the work she puts into their growth and learning experience resonated with Impact’s philosophy of making an impact on people in the community. The committee donated the funds for five bikes, helmets and bike locks for students who would otherwise not have them.
